Med Cleveland Smith,

BEAUFORT, SOUTH CAROLINA - Med Cleveland Smith, Jr., 80, of Beaufort, South Carolina and widower of Neva Mitchell Smith Smith, died Thursday morning, July 25, 2013, at Beaufort Memorial Hospital.

Born in Beaufort, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Med Cleveland Smith, Sr. and the late Rita Cook Smith. Mr. Smith was of the Christian faith. He was a United States Army veteran having served in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Smith was a retired auto body repairman who worked for O. C. Welch Ford and later for East Coast Collision. He enjoyed time with his family, bowling and fishing. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, David Cleveland Smith and Don Wilson Smith, and a granddaughter, Neva Marie Pitts.

Surviving are his daughter, Dianne Smith Hemmings and her husband, Paul, of Seabrook, South Carolina; his son, Dwayne L. Smith and his wife, Tracy, of Beaufort, South Carolina; seven grandchildren, Gary, Chris, Med, Jennifer, Jason, Ashley and Sonya; six great-grandchildren, Cole, Cameron, Caroline, Devon, Mitchell and Kaitlyn; two sisters, Ina Claire Garvin of Beaufort, South Carolina and Betty Smith Williams of Ridgeland, South Carolina, and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 o'clock Sunday afternoon at Copeland Funeral Service - One Copeland Drive.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 Monday morning in the chapel of Copeland Funeral Service. Interment, with military honors, will be at 12 noon Monday in Beaufort National Cemetery.
