Michael (Mike) Logan of Beaufort, South Carolina, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023, at the age of 74. Mike was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Shirley. He is survived by his wife, Cyndi; his sister, Barbara; his brother, Geoff; and his beloved parrots.
Mike was born on October 12, 1948, in the Patuxent River Naval Dispensary, Patuxent River, Maryland. He obtained a BA from Villanova University and an MBA from Georgia State University. As a “military brat,” Mike experienced the magic of remote island living on Kwajalein Atoll (Marshall Islands). As an adult the love of island life led him to become one of the first paying customers on Midway Atoll when it opened to commercial tours. His deep personal connection and passion for Midway prompted him to join the Friends of Midway Board of Directors in 2000. Mike also spent 2 years working for the Atlanta Olympic Committee. As a result, he and Cyndi had a unique and memorable 1996 Olympic games experience. During his military career, his time in Beaufort, where he flew the A-4 Skyhawk at MCAS Beaufort, left him with a love for the Low Country and the desire to retire watching the sunset over the marsh accompanied by the Sound of Freedom.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, Friday, February 3, 2023, at St. Peter’s Historical Catholic Church, 701 Carteret Street, Beaufort, SC. Burial will follow at 12:00 PM at Beaufort National Cemetery, with United States Marine Corps honors.
