Mozelle "Tooka" Helms

PORT ROYAL - Mozelle Beverly "Tooka" Helms age 86 died Tuesday 3/10/15 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital. Services will be held at St Helena Episcopal Church Friday March 20th at 2:00 pm. Mrs. Helms was born March 3, 1929 in Columbia, SC daughter of William Banks Dove and Mozelle Sox Dove.

Tooka was past President Lady's Island Country Club Women's Golf Assoc, Sec/Treas for Royal Pines Country Club and past President Sec/Treas of Beaufort Little Theatre where she directed all Show Times.  Tooka also served as financial chairman for Beaufort Water Festival when Gen Micky Finn was Commodore, served on the board and was music librarian for Beaufort Orchestra and directed fund raiser musicals for the YMCA and Red Cross.

She graduated from Central High School and attended GWU in Washington DC where she trained for the Olympics in ice skating along with her sister.Survivors are two daughters Donna Arand of Beaufort SC, husband Jim and  Elizabeth'Keiki' Sierman of Mendon VT, husband Kurt.  Five grandchildren James White, wife Eileen, Amy Morley, husband Dana, Gregory Sierman, Ceil Fogle and Laura Freeman. Four great-grandchildren Reece and Ginger White, Roger Fogle and Jonathan Cruciata along with nieces Linda Coffey and Sue Owen.

Predeceased is son Roger Dale Helms, daughter Beverly Lynn Helms and sister Marjoribanks Dove Barrett.

Tooka was a member of St John's Lutheran and St Helena's Episcopal churches.  Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to Beaufort Animal Shelter or St Helena's Preservation Fund.
