COOSAW ISLAND - MSgt Robert Lee Butler, United Stated Marine Corps (Ret.), 77, of Coosaw Island and husband of Mary Taber Butler, died Saturday morning, March 15, 2014, at his residence.
Robert was born in Kokomo, Indiana and was a son of the late Alvin Lewis and Stella Heinman Butler. Robert was an avid outdoorsmen and golfer. He was a member of VFW, DAV, and lifetime member of AMVETS Post 70.
In addition to his wife of 43 years, Robert is survived by seven daughters: Michaela Joy Murphy, Stella Annette Butler Taylor, Hollie Hoadwonic and husband PJ, Cindy DeLisa Butler, Harriett Maslin Berg, Georgia Butler Mossberg, and Robin Leigh Butler; one son, Robert Charles Butler and wife Jacquelyn; nineteen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers: Phyllis Lemmon, Rose Lemmon, Harry Butler and wife Vicki, Paul Butler and wife Brenda, Linda Madnett, Sue Wyrick and husband Ed; and numerous nieces and nephews. Robert is also survived by his three dogs, Isabell, CoCo and Beau.
A graveside service will be held at 10 o'clock Friday morning, March 21st, at Beaufort National Cemetery, with full Marine Corps honors.
