Robert Wade "Bob" Squires, Master Sergeant United State Marine Corps Retired, died Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Candler Hospital in Savannah, Georgia.

He was born October 7, 1936, in Bertha Hill, West Virginia to John Roland Squires and Elizabeth Pearl Squires Mahaffey, who both predeceased him.

Bob proudly served our Country in the United States Marine Corps for 22 years. After retiring, he was the owner of Neat & Purty Landscaping. He also worked for Beaufort County School District, doing landscaping. Bob was a life member of Harmony Lodge# 22 and a member of Semper Fidelis Shrine Club and Omar Shrine Temple. "Mr. Bob" transported numerous children to various Shrine hospitals for over 30 years. "Mr. Bob" truly loved helping the children. He was awarded the Dave Thomas Award for his outstanding service to the Shriners.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Anna Lee, whom he shared 57 wonderful years of marriage with. He is also survived by his daughters, Deborah Ann "Debbie" Youmans and her husband, John Howell Youmans III, of Beaufort and Roberta Gale Squires and her fiancé, William Gary Henry, of Branson, Missouri. He also survived by his brother, Evers A "Sam" Mahaffey and his wife, Barbara, and his sister, Cora Mae Rankin and her husband, Lee, both of Mineral, Virginia, and many nieces and nephews. "Gramps" is also survived by his "Boy" Teddy. He was predeceased by his parents; his step-father, Evers A. Mahaffey, Sr., and his brother, Carl Wayne Squires.


The visitation will be from 5 until 7 o'clock Monday, April 18th, at Copeland Funeral Service with Masonic Rites.

The funeral service will be held at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, April 19th, in the chapel of Copeland Funeral Service. Burial, with Marine Corps honors, will follow in Beaufort Memorials Gardens.
