Master Sergeant Donald DeVore Wersler, United States Marine Corps (Retired), closed rank with life and was called home on Thursday, May 20, 2021.
MSgt Wersler was born on March 31, 1924 in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles F.G. Wersler. After retirement from the Marine Corps and the U.S. Postal Service, he enjoyed a very active life and acquired the nickname 'Dancing Don' by his friends.
He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Emily (Sheppard) Wersler and a twin brother, Vernon L. Wersler.
MSgt Wersler is survived by a son Charles D. Wersler (Theresa) and a daughter, Donna E. Wersler. He leaves two grandchildren, Rebekah W. Hayes and Charles E.D. Wersler and four great grandchildren, all of Beaufort, SC.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at Beaufort National Cemetery, with United States Marine Corps honors.
