Myrna Elaine Brown, 91, of Beaufort, South Carolina and widow of Bill James Brown, died Wednesday evening, January 1, 2014, at her home. Born July 15, 1922 in Bazine, Kansas, she was a daughter of the late Bill Beltz and the late Hermina Mauth Beltz. Mrs. Brown worked at the bank and Boeing during World War II. She married Bill in 1949, had their three children, and moved to Beaufort in 1982 to retire. Mrs. Brown loved her family and also enjoyed flowers, refinishing furniture, reading and crossword puzzles. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Curtis Brown; a great-grandson, Tyler Martin; two sisters, Meta Heinz and Velma Bryan, and two brothers, Melvin Beltz and Leonard Beltz. Surviving are one son, Billy Brown (Mary); one daughter, Barbara Martin (Jim); eight grandchildren, Tony Martin (Sue), Jason Martin (Allison), Tim Martin (Christine), Alysha Span, Jenny Deys (Paul), Josh Brown (Lita), Eric Terry and Rick Terry (Mary), and seven great-grandchildren, Cyrus, Willow, Andrew, McKayla, Destiny, Ricky and Robby. The family will receive friends from 12 until 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon at Copeland Funeral Service - One Copeland Drive. The funeral service will be held at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the chapel of Copeland Funeral Service conducted by Chaplain Owen E. Tucker. Interment will be in Beaufort Memorial Gardens.
