Olga Chavis (formerly Lorris), age 97 ½, departed gently from Port Royal, South Carolina on May 7th, 2014.
In 1916, Olga Alexandrovna Poprukeilo, was born in Chicago, of Russian immigrants. Olga was a resident of Cambridge, MA for 30 years and of Newton, MA for 45 years. She moved to Beaufort, South Carolina in 2008. Her daughter Alexandra Ruggieri predeceased in 2009.
She is survived by her son, Paul Serge Lorris and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Lorris; three granddaughters, Mara, Elizabeth, and Rebecca (nee Lorris); three great-grandchildren, Bettina Ritter, David Ritter and Sean Jenkins; and a niece, Ellen Carlson.
Fortified by a high school diploma and the Great Depression, she rose from waitress to auditor to administrator, retiring as a Realtor at age eighty. Olga was an avid tennis player and seeded amateur (with awards). She played fervently to age 89.
Olga's cremated remains will be inurned in the Garden of Grace Episcopal Church - Eldredge Street, Newton Corner, MA, 02458 on Saturday, June 14, 2014.
