Oveda (Ve) Fisher Gaudreaux, 89, passed away January 2, 2022 at her home in Hilton Head Island, SC. A native of Whiteville, NC, she was the daughter of the late Alonzo Long Fisher and Margie P. Fisher. Her husband, Retired U.S. Navy Captain Laurence F. Gaudreaux, predeceased her, as did her four siblings Eunice F. Brown, Elizabeth F. Wells, Herbert Fisher, and Helen F. Moise.
Ve graduated from UNC Chapel Hill School of Pharmacy (1955) and was one of only four women in her class. While at UNC, she was a member of Rho Chi Pharmacy Honor Society and Phi Beta Kappa Society. In her long career in pharmacy, she enjoyed practicing at Norfolk Naval Hospital, Hilton Head Hospital and various community pharmacies.
After college, Ve pursued her dream to travel the world. Between practicing as a pharmacist and managing her home, she traveled to 58 countries reaching a life -long goal in her mid -eighties. She developed many interests including photography, reading, baking, culinary, sports, and current events. She was always a gracious host to friends and family. Ve was also a master of Trivial Pursuit, amazing her nieces and nephews with her knowledge at many family gatherings.
She was a member of St. Andrews by the Sea Methodist Church. She is survived by: Nancy G. Rollins, Long Island; and Tom Gaudreaux (Anne), Southport, NC. In addition, she leaves 13 nieces and nephews: Nina M. Pulliam (Jim), Davis Moise (Amy), Anna W. Moore (Statt), Toby Wells, Stuart Fisher (Cathy), Catherine F. Cook (Joe), Teresa F. Powell (Gary), Wally Brown (Stacey), Eunice B. Ledford (Heyward), Caroline Brown-Williamson (Wesley), Dr. Michael Brown (Tami), Deborah F. Brown (Stephen), Andy Brown (Susan), and their children.
