Paul Chambers Brewer, a devoted partner, father and brother died peacefully on August 21, 2024. He passed away in his home in Beaufort surrounded by members of his family. Dr. Brewer carried out his life under the values of loyalty, compassion and kindness, with a love for his community, his career and most of all, his family.
Born on August 5, 1958 in Clarksdale, Mississippi, Dr. Brewer grew up in Mississippi and Florida alongside his loving parents, sister and two brothers. In 1976, Dr. Brewer graduated from Cardinal Newman High School in West Palm Beach, Florida as Salutatorian. Dr. Brewer continued on to earn his Bachelor of Science in 1980 from Vanderbilt University, where he graduated summa cum laude and was elected as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. In 1984, Dr. Brewer received a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Virginia where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Thereafter, he completed a pediatric internship and residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1987 and a dermatology residency at the University of Virginia in 1995.
In 1995, Dr. Brewer moved to Beaufort, SC, where he founded Beaufort Dermatology and raised his family alongside his partner, Christine Chiaviello. Dr. Brewer was known for his kind-hearted and gracious demeanor; cheerful nature; and positive outlook on life. He took great joy in serving his community for 23 years as a dermatologist and held a deep love and devotion to his two sons, in whom he instilled the virtues of humility and grace and a passion for academics.
Dr. Brewer is survived by his life partner, Christine Talbird Chiaviello and their sons, Cage Talbird Brewer and Robert Whitten Brewer. Dr. Brewer also is survived by his siblings, William Chester Brewer, Jr.; Joseph Lyons Brewer; and Elizabeth Ione Brewer Schaffenburg. Dr. Brewer is preceded in death by his father, William Chester Brewer and mother, Elizabeth Lyons Brewer.
A memorial service for Dr. Brewer will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at St. Peter’s Historical Catholic Church.
