BEAUFORT, SOUTH CAROLINA - Robert F. Baker, 87, of Beaufort, South Carolina, passed away on March 17, 2012, at Bay View Manor, Beaufort, South Carolina.
Born July 22, 1924, in Barre, Orleans County, New York to the late Howard Willard Baker and the late Katherine Richardson. He was a World War II Veteran having served in the United States Navy in the New Guinea area of the Pacific Front on the Cruiser, Phoenix from 1943 to September 1945. After the war he worked for Duffy Motts in Holley and then for Fischer-Price in Medina until he retired in 1989.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Medina since April 1, 1958. He had been a long time residence of Medina until March 2010 until he went to live with his brother Lloyd and sister-in-law Alice in Delaware, Ohio. Robert traveled with them to Bluffton, South Carolina for the winter. While in South Carolina he fell ill and died after a short illness.
He is survived by a sister, Shirley May Miller, and his brother-in-law, Wilfred Miller of Chili, New York; his brother, Lloyd David Miller, and his sister-in-law, Alice Heath Baker of Delaware Run, Willow Brook, Delaware, Ohio; three nephews, David (Nancy) Baker of Ostrander, Ohio, Ken (Shari) Baker of Delaware, Ohio, and Doug (DeAnnah) Baker of Cary, North Carolina; five great-nieces and nephews, and one great-great-niece.
A private graveside service will be held later this year in Millville Cemetery in Medina.
