Robert S. Lafaye passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2017.
He was born in Columbia, South Carolina, the son of Robert S. Lafaye and Nell Murray Lafaye. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Nell Murray Lafaye.
He was educated at the University of South Carolina and Columbia Business College. He worked as manager of general maintenance for the South Carolina Public Service Authority (Santee Cooper) retiring in 1986. Throughout his life Bob was an enthusiastic student and collector of Indian culture and artifacts and, in general, an avid student of history and archaeology.
Bob was a member of The Parish Church of St. Helena in Beaufort, the S. C. Archaeological Society, The S. C. Historical Society, and many other historical and archaeological societies and organizations.
He was unmarried and among his survivors are cousins in Columbia, Charleston, Athens, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and many close friends.
The funeral service will be held at The Parish Church of St. Helena - 505 Church Street on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at 2 o'clock with interment in Elmwood Cemetery in Columbia at 1 o'clock on Thursday, June 1, 2017.
