BEAUFORT, SOUTH CAROLINA - Sandra Johnson Lamb, 85, of Beaufort, South Carolina, died Thursday, September 12, 2013.
Sandra (Sandy) was born February 15, 1928 in St. Paul, Minnesota to the late Leonard and Ann Norbeck Johnson. She graduated from high school in Osceola, Wisconsin, attended River Falls Teacher College, River Falls Wisconsin and earned a BA degree in Journalism from the University of Minnesota.
Sandy married Stanley Lamb June 28, 1952 and they were together until his death forty-nine years later. They had a daughter, Kerry Jill Lamb Market, their only child, who died too young at the age of 57 in 2011.
Sandy was a Advertising Copywriter for over 25 years, mostly in Retail working for Dayton's Minneapolis; Famous-Barr, St. Louis; Rich's, Atlanta; Fashion Bar, Denver; and Mel Finkel Associates Advertising Agency. She was Continuity Director at WILS Radio in Lansing, Michigan, her favorite job, and was hostess on Party Line as Sandy St. John, a call-in question-and answer daily radio program at WRJN, Racine, Wisconsin.
She loved her career, her family and friends scattered throughout the Midwest, Denver, Atlanta, and Beaufort, South Carolina. If she were to return to any city where she had lived she would quickly be able to form a bridge foursome, her recreational passion.
Since 1980, Sandy had sent out Christmas Letters each year which chronicled her life with her husband, daughter, family and friends. A continued-next year memoir of a long contented live.
She was predeceased by her older brother, Robert Johnson, as well as the other two people she loved most in the world.
A memorial service will be held at 11 o'clock Friday morning, September 20th, at the graveside, Beaufort National Cemetery.
Sandy would wish that from time to time her friends would raise a champagne toast in her memory.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Best Friends Animal Society - 5001 Angel Canyon Road, Kanab, Utah, 84741-5000.
