Sharon Barry Logan

Sharon Barry Logan, 73, died February 20, 2016, after a decade-long struggle with cancer. She was born and raised in Lynbrook on Long Island, New York and attended State University at New Paltz.  Sharon and the family settled in Rosendale, New York for many years and later in New Hamburg, New York.  Sharon spent her last years in picturesque Beaufort, South Carolina, where she made new friends and loved painting on the beach, where she found much solace as her health declined. After completing school, Sharon began her career teaching art to inmates at Fishkill Correctional Facility and for many years taught art in public schools and at the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan.  Sharon was a prolific artist and showed her work first in her own gallery and then regularly at the Beaufort Art Association.  She also illustrated two books, The Green World (a gardening book) and The Kitchen Almanac and was a designer, photographer, gardener, and cat lover.  What she enjoyed most of all, was traveling to exotic parts of the world with her husband, Tom. Sharon personified light and joy. She lived life deeply and passionately. She loved to gather people together, and Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter celebrations were large boisterous affairs with a varied and eclectic group. Sharon was always at the helm and her laughter filled the room.  Sharon was greatly loved by many, and will be deeply missed. Sharon Barry Logan is survived by her son, Oliver Sherwood Spencer; her sister, Barbara Barry Fanti; brother, Raymond Barry; nephews, Dewey and Gregory Fanti, and Jedediah Golding; niece, Oona Barry; her daughter and son by marriage, Blake Logan and Geordan Logan, and five grandchildren.
