Shirley H. Buchman, of Lady's Island and formerly of Dataw Island, died June 17, 2016, at the age of 86. Born July 9, 1929 in Pittsburgh, PA, she was a daughter of Ruth C. Deatrick and Merrill Holsopple. A Pittsburgh native, Shirley and David made their home in McMurray, PA for 27 years before moving to Dataw Island in 1988, after David's retirement from Alcoa.  An artist, Shirley attended Otis Art Institute and Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles, CA.  She had a fun loving sense of humor with a smile that lit up her face. Shirley was a fabulous cook who loved to entertain, especially during the holidays. She was a devoted wife and mother, who made her family a priority.  Shirley enjoyed traveling, and volunteering as a docent at St Helena's Church. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David A. Buchman, Sr., and her brother, Merrill Holsopple. Shirley is survived by her sons, David A. Buchman Jr. (Sherry) of Jacksonville, Florida, Mark W. Buchman of Columbia, SC; her daughters, Susan E. Buchman of Lady's Island and Barbara B. McNaughton (David) of Old Tappan, NJ; her sister, Louise Shepherd of Morgantown, WV, as well as grandchildren, Sarah (Justin), Jennifer (Mitchell), Matthew, Alex, Savannah, Katherine, Emma, Meredith and Abigail, and great-grandchildren, Madison and Jackson. The funeral service will be held at 11o'clock Friday morning, June 24, 2016, at The Parish Church of St. Helena.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Preservation Trust for Historic St. Helena's Church - Post Office Box 1043, Beaufort, S. C. 29901.
