BEAUFORT, SOUTH CAROLINA - Suzanne Spencer Ballard, 75, of Beaufort, wife of William G. "Bill" Ballard died Thursday, June 9, 2011, at her residence.
She was the daughter of the late Lamont and Frances Spencer. She was born on November 27, 1935 in Meridian, Mississippi. Suzanne was a long-time active member of the First Baptist Church of Walterboro, and more recently of The Baptist Church of Beaufort. Her interests included reading, cross-stitching, playing the piano, and the Atlanta Braves.
Surviving are her husband of 55 years, William G. Ballard, Sr.; one son, William G. Ballard, Jr. of Bogota, Colombia; three daughters, Frances Peters of Columbia, South Carolina, Laura Pruett (KW) of Beaufort, South Carolina, and Elizabeth Mackey (Kelly) of Watkinsville, Georgia; one sister, Mary Jane Stephens (Bill) of Edmond, Oklahoma; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Sunday at Copeland Funeral Service - One Copeland Drive.
The funeral service will be held at 1 o'clock Monday afternoon at The Baptist Church of Beaufort. Interment will be in Beaufort National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church - 124 South Memorial Avenue, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488 or The Baptist Church of Beaufort - Post Office Box 879, Beaufort, South Carolina 29901-0879 or The Arthritis Foundation - Post Office Box 6228, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina 29938.
