Terrence Bruce Launhardt, age 71, better known as Bruce to those who loved him, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2018 at MUSC in Charleston, South Carolina surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Plainfield, New Jersey on May 18, 1947 to the late Walter and Ruth Smith Launhardt. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Pamela Strychowski Launhardt. His brother Charles (Chuck) passed away in 1992.
Bruce enjoyed life part time in Hilton Head and New Jersey loving both places and the activities offered in each location.
He graduated from Woodbridge High School in New Jersey in 1965 and was famously known as 'Cousin Brucie' captain of the football team. He then attended Bethel College in McKenzie Tennessee graduating in 1969. After graduation, he served in the army from 1969 until 1971, doing a tour of duty in Vietnam.
He married his wife, Pam, August 22, 1971 and they spent many wonderful years traveling, golfing, and enjoying life.
He worked at Huffman Koos furniture store for 2 years before becoming employed at the Dreyfus Corporation as Assistant to the Director of Advertising, where he worked for 34 years until retirement in 2007.
Bruce was kind, generous, and fun loving and will be greatly missed by many dear family members and friends. Rest in peace, Bruce, with your family, the angels, and the Lord.
Viewing will be held at Copeland Funeral Service Beaufort SC Sunday, January 6, 2019 from 2:00-4:00. Funeral service will be held at Copeland at 10:00 followed by interment at the National Cemetery in Beaufort on Monday, January 7, 2019 at 11:00.
