Thomas A. Anderson Sr., at the age of 88, graduated to that heavenly shore
on Saturday, June 10, 2023, while at the Memorial Health Hospital in
Savannah, Ga.
He is survived by: his wife, Betty J Anderson; 2 Daughters, Anita and
Rhonda; 2 Sons, Thomas Jr and Michael; 12 grandchildren, and 12
great-grandchildren.
Thomas A Anderson Sr. (known by many as Andy, and to family and close
friends as Buddy) was born on January 20, 1935, in Lumberton, NC. He was
raised on a farm and worked hard until January 8, 1954, when he entered
the United States Marine Corps and was sent to Parris Island, SC for
Marine Corps Boot Camp. He Schooled as a Machinist and later toured with
the USMC Rifle Pistol team. He served the Marines honorably for 20
years, retiring on July 31, 1973. He continued to serve in the USMC
Fleet Reserve and was fully discharged on February 1, 1984.
While serving in the USMC, Thomas A Anderson Sr. had his tours of duty
in Vietnam, Japan, Hawaii, Camp Lejeune, and USMC Beaufort SC. He
traveled to many other places around the world with the Rifle Pistol
Team representing the United States Marine Corps.
During Thomas A. Anderson, Sr.'s early years in the USMC, he met a
beautiful young lady named Betty J. Davis of Charlotte, NC. She soon
became his wife and Life Long partner and they were married on February
27, 1957.
Before his last days of retirement, Andy worked helping set up mobile
homes for many of the mobile home dealers in Beaufort, SC. He eventually
became interested in Heating and Cooling, leading him to take HVAC
classes. Soon he opened Andy's Heating & Air Conditioning. After many
years, he opened Andy's Mobile Home Supply while also venturing into
Land Clearing. Later the Mobile Home Supply Building was robbed and
burned and instead of rebuilding he decided to give his son, Thomas Jr,
the HVAC Business as he continued with the Land Clearing Business. Andy
later ventured into the Drain Field and Septic Tank Business and not
long after Andy's Septic Tank & Drain Field Service was born. He and his
son, Michael, continued the business until Andy had to shut the business
down because of Medical issues after being injured on a job. Andy then
said that it was time to retire again.
Thomas A Anderson Sr. received many awards in the USMC and on this
earth. None like the one that counted the most when he left this world
after fighting a good fight, finishing his course, and keeping the
faith, and thus receiving a crown of righteousness that he could later
place at the feet of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen
