Toomer Vanderhorst Aimar

Toomer Vanderhorst Aimar, a longtime resident of Beaufort, South Carolina, died peacefully, January 20, 2021 at Morningside Assisted Living in Savannah, Georgia, under the care of Spanish Oaks Hospice.
He was born in Thunderbolt, Georgia on December 1926 to the late William Washington Aimar, Sr. and Eugenie Toomer Aimar. He moved to Beaufort in 1939. Mr. Aimar attended Clemson University before leaving school to join the US Army and was proud to serve during WWII. He was a lifelong member of The First Presbyterian Church of Beaufort before moving his membership to The First Scots Presbyterian Church of Beaufort. He was a former member of the Jean Ribault Society and was a current member of the Wednesday Morning Men's Breakfast Club.
On May 1st, 1949, he married the love of his life, Jean Wetherington, at Independent Presbyterian Church in Savannah and they recently celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary. They had three children, Toomer Aimar, Jr, (Nancy), Claudia A. Webb, (Owen) and Alton W. Aimar (Mary Ryan).
He was pre-deceased by his parents, his sister, Barbara A. Goodwin (Malcolm), his brothers; William W. Aimar, (Pearl), Charles S. Aimar, (Jeanne), Neal V. Aimar, (Betty), nephews, Neal V. Aimar. Jr. and Peter A. Goodwin and a niece, Barbara Aimar.
He is survived by his wife, his three children, his three grandchildren, Nina W. Moynihan, (Jeff), Toomer V. (Trey) Aimar, Ill, (Colby) and John B. Aimar as well as his great grandchildren, Webb Moynihan, Penn Moynihan, Cam Moynihan, and twins, Emerson and Hampton Aimar. AESO survived by sister-in law, Roberta Aimar. Mr. Aimar leaves behind many nieces and nephews who are saddened to lose the Patriarch of the Aimar family.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon, January 24, 2021, at Copeland Funeral Service - One Copeland Drive.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Monday morning, January 25, 2021, at First Scots Presbyterian Church of Beaufort - 335 Sams Point Road on Lady's Island. Burial will follow at The Parish Church of St. Helena Cemetery.
