Viola Speer

Viola Dolores Speer (nee Wambold) was born in 1934 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and died peacefully
on September 30, 2024. Viola grew up in the Kensington section of Philadelphia, where she graduated
with honors from John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls High School in June 1952. She attended grammar
school at her beloved St. Edwards Parish in north central Philadelphia and graduated in 1948 with
honors and was awarded the American Legion Award. After graduating high school, Vi started working
full time at I.T.E. Circuit Breaker Company. It was at this time that Viola met the love of her life, John W.
Speer. Vi and John were married on March 2, 1957 and lived an extremely happy life together until John
passed away in 2018. They raised 3 daughters together in Holland, PA. Viola worked her way up in the
corporate world, rising to an executive for an international medical device company. Viola and John also
started Speer Roofing and Sheet Metal which they ran together successfully for over 20 years. Upon
retiring in 1995, they relocated to Four Lakes Golf Club Community in Winter Haven, Florida. Not too
fond of golf, Viola spent her time starting various social and charitable organizations at Four Lakes that
still continue to this day. Viola planned many trips for John and their friends and together, they saw the
world, but Florida was her happiest place. She loved living at Four Lakes, entertaining friends, partying
with the Loopers, the Original Four Lakers and everyone else in their community.
Viola is survived by her three daughters, Mary (Steven) Goldberg, Janet (Dennis Cole) Speer, and Eileen
(David) Nicastro; her ten grandchildren Jaclyn Gonzalez (nee Bentz), Ryan Bentz, Brittany (Shaun) Kieffer
(nee Bentz), Jason Nicastro, Jacob (Haley) Nicastro, Megan (Nico) Cole, Ellen (Kevin) Cole, Jason
Goldberg, Marc (Erica) Goldberg, Randy (Jenny) Goldberg; and her thirteen great-grandchildren Reanna
Bentz, Summerlyn Bentz, Rogan Gonzalez, Nolan Kieffer, Nicolette Kieffer, Darcy Goldberg, Emersyn
Goldberg, Roarke Goldberg, Samantha Goldberg, Alyssa Goldberg, Benjamin Goldberg, Keira Goldberg,
Darren Goldberg.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Four Lakes Golf Club Community Clubhouse, 990 La Quinta Blvd,
Winter Haven, FL 33881 on November 6, 2024 at 11:00 am.
Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Grace Church, 225 Bellevue Avenue, Penndel, PA 19047 on
December 7, 2024 at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, 1215 Super
Highway, Langhorne, PA 19047. Luncheon will immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Viola’s name be made to Parkinson’s Foundation.'
