CALLAWASSIE, SOUTH CAROLINA - Walter Thomas "Tom" Van Etten, 76, of Callawassie, husband of Marilyn Brisco Van Etten, died Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital. Tom was born in Richmond, Indiana. He was a son of the late Walter Benjamin and Elizabeth Nancy Kenney Van Etten. Tom was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of Sea Island Presbyterian Church. Tom retired in 2001 from Sun Trust Bank, where he served as Senior Vice-President of Human Resources in Nashville and Miami. He was previously employed by the First National Bank of Cincinnati as Vice-President of Personnel and Waddell and Reed in Kansas City Missouri, as Human Resource Director. Tom was past President of the Society for Human Resource Management Chapters in Kansas City Missouri, Cincinnati Ohio, and Miami Florida. He was a member of Harbormaster Choral Group and the Callawassie Choral Club. Tom is survived by his wife of fifty-three years; two sons and daughter in laws, Brad and Joanne Van Etten of Roswell, GA and Craig and Marie Van Etten of Cleveland OH; four grandchildren, Ashley, Lindsey, Cassandra, and Michael; a sister and brother in law, Nancy and Tom Cox of Richmond IN; brother in law and wife Ray and Joyce Brisco of Anderson, IN; sister in law and husband Ann and Noel Anderson of Centerville OH; and a number of Nieces and Nephews. A memorial service for Tom will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 17th, at Sea Island Presbyterian Church.
